A Stormy Night - by Georgina

One stormy night, holly and polly were walking home from a party, when they suddenly heard a noise coming from the spooky church.

They both dared each other to go in there.

Finally ,they both decided to go in together. As there pointy finger's reached for the door,it slowly it quickly slammed shut! It gave both of them a big jump.

"This church is old and dusty with loads of insects near the wall's holly".

A strange figure jumped in front of them. They screamed so loud, the whole world could hear them. Then they only realised that it was a vampire!!The vampire flew to the door and said goodbye, then he said

"if you ever come back again i will turn you into one of my slave's forever and you will never see anyone again."

Not turning back, they quickly ran to the broken door. when they got home they went straight to bed with nightmares!

Why I didn’t turn back... by Natasha and Isobel

In the dark spooky night after school, my friend told me there was a bear in a spooky cave. I love bears, was over the moon when I heard about the cuddly, soft, sweet bear.

I went into the cave to look for the bear...

I turned to see if my friend was behind me: shaking with terror – she had ditched me! I never thought she was that kind of girl. And I didn’t realise I had dropped my diary.

My heart was pounding, wondering why I didn’t turn back when I had the chance! This was a horrible disaster... I was petrified, looking around.

After a while, a girl walked into the cave and found my diary that had been dropped, sat down in the corner of the cave and read.

I heard laughing, “Hello is anybody there?” I yelled, not being able to hold my hand still. I carried on my adventure wondering is there even a bear?

Meanwhile, the girl had been reading about my relationship (and laughing).

I stood still hearing laughing from behind and despite being terrified, still carried on. It was now 11:10pm as I got deeper and deeper into the cave...

Suddenly there was no light. “Now what do I do?”

My eyes started welling up as this had turned out to be the worst day of my life! I fell back onto the hard rocky ground. I felt my hot sweaty forehead and it was bleeding violently.

Just when I thought all hope was gone I found a small and very faint torch. I twirled it round impatiently trying to find the button, it wasn’t large it was actually very thin and stiff, it took me about five minutes to get a light and to be honest with you it wasn’t really worth the struggle because it kept turning off every two minutes.

But it did help me find something, it was a cracked hand mirror with an engravement on the back it said “have fun”. At that moment those words were not very useful especially as I was not having fun. BANG! The light on my torch suddenly blew out! No! How can this be happening OW I just banged my head on what looks like a wall. IT’S THE END OF THE CAVE! I look back quickly hoping I can see the way back, I can’t.

I know I won’t survive much longer...

The truth behind Lady Gaga

Apart from the fantastically strange and weird outfits what do we really know about lady Gaga?

Her real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta born on the 28th march 186. She is an American recording artist.

She began performing in the rock music scene of New York City’s lower east side.
Her debut album the fame was released n august 19 2008 it reached number one in Canada, Austria, Germany and Ireland.
It’s first two singles just dance and poker face became international hits, topping the hot 100
in the United States as well as other countries. The album later earned a total of six Grammy award nominations and won awards for the best electronic/dance album and best dance recording. She has sold over thirty five singles and over eight million albums.
When lady gaga was young she used to sing into a pretend microphone to artists such as Michael Jackson and Cyndi Lauper and danced with her dad to the rolling stones and the Beatles
“I always was an entertainer I was a ham when I was young and I’m a ham now” says lady gaga.
She made a name for herself on the lower east side club scene with her dance moves, her ‘shock art performances’ where Gaga makes and designs many of her stage outfits would strip down to her hand made hot pants and bikini top. She took her name from Queen’s song radio Gaga.
She believes fame is not just about the music but about the performance, the attitude and the look and that is what she wants to achieve as an artist.

Lady Gaga is just trying to change the world one sequin at a time.

Before writing this article I was guilty of judging Lady Gaga on her appearance, the clothes she wears and the rumours I have heard, but as I looked beyond all that, beyond the crazy outfits with which she hides behind, I saw someone very similar to me someone with dreams, she may have fame and money but that all started out with the little plastic microphone and dancing with her father. If we are all honest we all judge people the same by their looks and their clothes or their popularity status, but if we look harder maybe we can see the true person not just the mask they hide behind.

Thoughts from a Cambridge Student

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to f...Image by monkeyc.net via Flickr

We are now moving towards the end of Lent term at Cambridge, and one of my more controversial tutors decided to enlighten our English class with a piece of advice: "always be a coward." This struck me as slightly odd, since the tutor in question certainly has no fear in telling his students when their ideas are no good! It made me wonder, though, whether this is a worthwhile motto; should be really be cowardly in all we do?

Life at Cambridge is notoriously work-orientated: whether an arts student reading and writing essays all day or a science student spending six days a week in the labs, there is a constant demand to work hard. "Work hard, play hard" is a tagline which the university seems to have adopted, and for good reason! Life during term time seems to be full of work. Work work work work work.

So it came as a bit of a surprise last week when one of the girls from my small group at church suggested that maybe sometimes we should be half-hearted with our work in order to be whole-hearted with God; maybe we should belt out an essay in order to free up time to pray. I kid you not, a visible wave of shock rippled around the group.

But I'm going to stick my neck out here and suggest that this girl was right. I believe that we are called to work by God; He has plans for each one of us, but sometimes we have to work in order to get there. Whether we are set out to become a lawyer, an artist, a nurse, a home-maker, a chef or whatever, all of these things take work. Personally, I have absolutely no idea what I want to do as a job... but I figure that I've got this far, so it makes sense to keep working hard and to see where God takes me. Don't get me wrong, it's sometimes really hard working towards something when you dont really have a clue about what that "something" is. But what I do know is that God has plans for me, and working hard is part of those plans. Sometimes I wonder whether I'm really cut out to be where I am, not only in terms of university but in friendships, relationships, church... but then I remember that God ensured that I got this far (although it took a lot of hard work too), so clearly I'm here for a reason!

So I think that ideally, we can be whole-hearted for God through our work. If, by working hard, we are able to glorify God and give our work to Him, that's amazing! But in practice, it's not always so easy. With deadlines looming and exams coming up, it can be really hard to stay focused on God. So should we give up our work completely? No, of course not. But maybe, just maybe, we should every once in a while put our work aside, spend time with God, make ourselves right with God and then continue with our quest to work for God, not against Him.

So, should we really be cowards in all we do? No no no no no! We should, in fact, endeavour to do the opposite: to be brave enough to work hard for God. To be brave enough to make time for God. To be brave enough to put aside work every now and then in order to make ourselves right with God. To be brave. After all, if the girl from my small group had been a coward, she would never have spoken this idea which shocked us all so much, but revolutionised our thinking.
